As someone who likes playing pool and likes to watch the odd movie. It makes sense to rate some i have seen...

Here is a page of pool movies watched and a quick 'moppy' review of them all.

 Review

Well its the big daddy of pool films. You can't have a pool movie list without this appearing. It's one of the grittier films of pool.

Fast Eddie Felson is perhaps the most talented pool shooter in the country and yet, at his core, he's a born loser.

Great film, surpringly more about Fast Eddie than the actualy pool playing as such. Some great pool shots though and just makes you wish you could play in some of the pool halls in the 1960's

Rating: 9.5/10 - An absolute classic. A must see

 The Colour of Money (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090863/)

Review

Older, wiser ex-pool hustler Paul Newman (as "Fast" Eddie Felson) spots younger, dumber pool playing fanatic Tom Cruise (as Vincet Lauria). Mr. Newman sees in Mr. Cruise the same ability he once possessed

A Martin Scorcese directed film that is a great sequal to The Hustler. Tom Cruise and Paul Newman are just mesmorising in some scenes. The 80's style can be a bit off putting but I think an under-rated film.

Rating: 8/10 - Needs to be in every pool players film collection.

Review

A little known pool film from New Zealand. It's a black comedy about three pool players that that love playing pub pool, but they get involved in a game where the stakes go higher than expected.

An absolute gem of a film and one I recommend to all fellow pub pool players. You can't help seeing similarities in the characters and some of your own pub team players!!

Rating: 9/10 - You will watch it and then recommend it to all your team mates!

Review:

I'm not a great fan of this film it just didn't grab me, but i dont know why not. Maybe it was the obvious plot and some scenes just didn't feel right.

On the good side: There is some good humour & dialog in it. I love Mars Callahan's t shirt with Hustler on it! Christopher Walken is great! And one great pool trick shot that is worth copying to impress your mates!

Rating: 6/10 - It's a pool film and it might be more your cup of tea than mine!

Review: A quite recent pool movie (2007) that is about a female pool player, who trying to get through life and get her son back from his abusive father. A little slow but the pool action is top notch though and it feels very authenticate. And Rip Torn (MIB fame) plays a very good Pool Hall owner/mentor. Need to get a US DVD import or some 'electronic form' method of viewing for this currently....

Rating: 7/10. Pool scenes are good and a gritty real life film.
